Kupang (B2B) - 46 penumpang pesawat Merpati Nusantara Airlines selamat setelah tergelincir dari landasan pacu bandara El Tari Kupang, Nusa Tenggara Timur, pada Senin pagi.

"Ke-46 penumpang, termasuk satu bayi dan empat awak selamat dari kecelakaan tersebut. Dilaporkan pula bahwa penumpang yang mengalamai shock segera dilarikan ke rumah sakit angkatan udara terdekat`," kata Kepala Cabang PT Angkasa Pura El Tari Kupang, Imam Pramono kepada pers di Kupang.

Dia mengatakan bahwa penyebab insiden tersebut belum  diketahui, dan masih perlu penelitian lebih lanjut oleh pihak berwenang.

Komandan Pangkalan Udara El Tari Kupang, Letnan Kolonel (Penerbang) Eko Dono Indarto Percontohan mengatakan bahwa personil langsung ditempatkan garis polisi di tempat kejadian untuk penyelidikan.

"Kami tidak tahu penyebab insiden tersebut, sehingga perlu penyelidikan lebih lanjut untuk menentukan penyebabnya," katanya.

Menurut saksi, pesawat berhenti di tempat sementara roda depan menyentuh landasan pacu ketika mendarat. Akibatnya, pesawat tergelincir dari landasan pacu.

Para penumpang selamat dari kecelakaan tersebut, tetapi beberapa dari mereka yang masih shock setelah kejadian itu langsung dilarikan ke rumah sakit.

"The 46 passengers, including one infant and four crew members survived the incident. It is also reported that the shocked passengers were immediately rushed to a nearby Air Force`s Hospital," said Head of state-owned airport company PT Angkasa Pura El Tari Kupang Airport Imam Pramono told reporters.

He said that the causes of the incident is unknown, and still need further investigation by authorities.

El Tari Kupang Airport Air Force Base Commander Lieutenant Colonel Pilot Eko Dono Indarto said that his personnel directly placed police line at the scene for the investigation.

"We do not know the causes of the incident, so it needs further investigation to determine the causes," he said.

According to witnesses, the plane stopped in place while the front wheels touched the runway while landing. As a result, the aircraft skidded out of the runway.

The passengers survived the incident, but some of them who were still shocked after the incident immediately rushed to the hospital.
