KEPOLISIAN menyikapi kasus kecelakaan maut yang menimpa AQJ, putra bungsu musisi Ahmad Dhani dengan meningkatkan ketertiban pengguna lalu lintas, seperti diterapkan oleh Polres Kutai Timur, Kalimantan Timur.
Kepala Satuan Lalu Lintas Polres Kutai Timur, Kaltim, AKP Sigit Hermawan mengatakan akan langsung menangkap pengendara sepeda motor dan mobil yang usianya kurang dari 17 tahun.
"Kalau belum genap 17 tahun jelas menyalahi aturan. Kedapatan pasti langsung kami tangkap," ujar Sigit, seperti diberitakan Bontang Post (Grup JPNN) yang dilansir jpnn.com.
Sigit juga mengimbau para orang tua agar jangan memberi kesempatan kepada anak untuk mengendarai motor tanpa dilengkapi Surat Izin Mengemudi (SIM).
Berdasarkan data Satuan Lalu Lintas Polres Kutai Timur, hingga Agustus 2013, sudah 36 orang tewas di jalan. Mereka terlibat dalam 43 kasus kasus kecelakaan lalu lintas (lakalantas). Sementara, 14 warga lainnya mengalami luka berat dan 7 warga luka ringan. Dari jumlah kasus kecelakaan tersebut, kerugian materiil ditaksir senilai Rp 527 juta.
"Kebanyakan kasus lakalantas terjadi di jalur lintas daerah. Ada yang tabrakan karena melawan arah, mabuk, dan sebagainya," terang Sigit.

Sigit also urge parents to not allow their children to ride a motorbike or a car without the driver´s license (SIM).
Based on data from the Traffic Unit Police of East Kutai, until August 2013, 36 people have been killed on the road. They were involved in 43 cases of traffic accidents. While, 14 other people were seriously injured and seven people were lightly injured. Of these accidents, material losses estimated at Rp 527 million.
"Most cases of traffic accident occurred in the traffic lane areas. Someone bumps against the flow of traffic, drunk, and etc.," Sigit said.
