Jakarta (B2B) - Mabes Polri segera melakukan investigasi kekerasan terhadap wartawan yang diduga dilakukan oleh oknum polisi, saat melakukan peliputan demontrasi kenaikan bahan bakar minyak (BBM) di Makassar, Sulsel.

"Atas perintah pimpinan maka Mabes Polri akan serius menangani dan melakukan investigasi kasus kekerasan terhadap wartawan di Makassar," kata Kepala Divisi Humas Mabes Polri Inspektur Jenderal Polisi Ronny Franky Sompie di Jakarta, Jumat.

Dalam pernyataannya atas peristiwa ini, Kapolri dan Kapolda Sulselbar telah meminta maaf atas insiden yang dialami rekan-rekan wartawan di Makassar.

Polri menyesalkan terjadinya insiden tersebut dan berupaya melakukan investigasi terhadap siapa saja anggota Polri yang melakukan penyimpangan akan ditindak sesuai aturan yang berlaku.

"Kami akan menindak anggota polisi yang melakukan tindakan kekerasan terhadap wartawan," katanya.

Menurutnya, Polri juga akan melakukan tindak tegas terhadap mahasiswa yang telah melakukan perbuatan yang melanggar hukum dan melukai anggota Polri di Makassar, saat melakukan pengamanan demo tersebut.

Mahasiswa yang terlibat melakukan perbuatan yang melawan hukum akan diproses dalam penyidikan sesuai dengan Kitab Undang-Undang Hukum Pidana (KUHP), dan diserahkan ke sidang pengadilan.

"Pada prinsipnya siapapun yang melakukan pelanggar aturan hukum maka akan ditindak tegas oleh Polri," ucap polisi yang menyandang dua bintang di pundaknya itu.

Jakarta (B2B) - The Indonesian Police Headquarter will soon investigate its officers allegedly involved in an act of violence against journalists covering an anti-fuel price hike rally in the South Sulawesi provincial capital of Makassar on Thursday.

"Following the request of the leadership, the National Police Headquarters will seriously investigate the case of violence against journalists in Makassar," Spokeman of the Indonesian Police Headquarters, Inspector General Franky Sompie stated here on Friday.

He stated that the national police chief and the South and West Sulawesi provincial police chiefs had tendered their apologies to the journalists regarding the incident.

The police have expressed regret for the incident and have vowed to take action against its officers found guilty of committing irregularities during the rally, he noted.

"We will take stern action against police officers involved in the violent act against journalists," he remarked.

He emphasized that the police will also take strict action against those students who had violated the law and injured the police officers while securing the rally.

The students, who had violated the law, will be punished according to the penal code and brought to justice, he affirmed.

"In principle, the police will take firm action against anybody who violates the law," he added.
