Jakarta (B2B) - Anggota TNI Angkatan Darat bersama petugas kebersihan dan warga DKI Jakarta bergotong-royong membersihkan Sungai Ciliwung untuk mencegah banjir pada Kamis (14/11).

Gubernur DKI Jakarta Joko Widodo (Jokowi) tiba di lokasi titik kumpul di pelataran Mall Seasons City, Jakarta Barat, sekitar pukul 08.15 WIB, sementara para personel TNI, petugas kebersihan dan masyarakat telah siap.

"Ini diharapkan dapat meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat untuk lebih mencintai kebersihan lingkungan," kata Jokowi sebelum memulai kegiatan pembersihan Sungai Ciliwung.

Jokowi meminta warga tidak lagi membuang sampah ke sungai supaya sungai tetap bersih dan tidak terjadi banjir.

Menurut Asisten Teritorial KASAD Mayjen Meris Wiryadi, sebanyak 4.500 personil TNI Angkatan Darat, sekitar 2.500 warga dan 500 petugas Dinas Kebersihan terlibat dalam aksi bersih-bersih sungai itu.

"Ini merupakan upaya antisipatif untuk mengatasi ancaman banjir di ibu kota dan juga merupakan bagian dari upaya pendidikan yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kebiasaan masyarakat untuk tidak membuang sampah seenaknya," ujarnya.

Dalam kegiatan tersebut, dikerahkan 7.500 personel TNI didukung 50 dump truck, empat excavator dan peralatan pendukung lainnya.

Jokowi also hoped that after the river was cleaned, residents would stop dumping garbage into the river so that it remained clean and no flooding took place.

Meanwhile, Major General Meris Wiryadi, the Army Chief of Staffs territorial assistant said on the occasion that he had deployed 4,500 personnel for the operation.

"This is an anticipatory effort to deal with the threat of floods in the capital city and is also part of an educational effort aimed at improving peoples habit of dumping garbage at will," he stated.

In all, 7,500 personnel are involved in the operation, in addition to 50 dump trucks, four excavators and other equipment.
