Jakarta (B2B) - Di awal bergulirnya reformasi, banyak orang mengidamkan menjadi legislator alias anggota Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat (DPR) maupun DPRD.
Jakarta (B2B) - In the beginning of reformation, a lot of people were dreaming of becoming legislator or member of House of Representatives or Regional House of Representatives. At present, on the contrary most of parents do not want their children to be legislators.
It is revealed by the result of a survey by Lingkaran Survei Indonesia (LSI) by researcher of LSI, Rully Akbar, in LSI office in Jakarta, on Sunday (18/11). The survey was organized on November 12-15, 2012, involving 1,200 respondents chosen using the method of multistage random sampling. The margin error is around 2.9%.
The result is around 56.43% respondents do not want their children to become legislators in 2014 Election. Only 37.62% parents want their children to do so and 5.95% parents do not know about it.
When asked if respondents are interested to become legislative candidates in 2014 Election? As much as 54.02% are not interested, 38.37% are interested, and 6.71% are abstain.
Rully Akbar says that the result is different from the one conducted in 2008. At that time, most of the respondents wanted their children to become member of the House. Only 31.32% respondents said no and 9.61% did not respond.
“There is 25% increase in the society who do not want their children to be member of DPR. Legislative candidate is no longer a dream job for parents,” says Rully.
He assumes that the refusal is caused by rampant cases of corruption involving members of the House, lessening people’s interest to become one. In addition, more and more members of the House are involved in
amoral behaviors ranging from illegal affairs to indiscipline behaviors such as sleeping in the meeting and skipping work.
So, what about you?
