Jakarta (B2B) - Presiden RI Joko Widodo menyatakan keputusannya untuk mengusulkan calon Kepala Polri (Kapolri) yang baru yakni Komisaris Jenderal Badrodin Haiti ke DPR menyikapi pencalonan Komisaris Jenderal Budi Gunawan yang memicu kontroversi di masyarakat sehingga Presiden memilih membatalkannya.
"Untuk menciptakan situasi kondusif dan memenuhi kebutuhan penetapan Kapolri definitif, saya mengusulkan Komjen Badrodin Haiti ke DPR untuk disetujui menjadi Kapolri yang baru," kata Presiden Joko Widodo di Istana Negara pada Rabu.
Dalam kesempatan itu, Presiden meminta Komjen Budi Gunawan untuk memberi kontribusi terbaiknya kepada Polri agar lembaga penegak hukum tersebut semakin profesional untuk memulihkan kepercayaan masyarakat.
Budi Gunawan sebelumnya dicalonkan menjadi kandidat tunggal Kapolri oleh Presiden, tapi pencalonan itu disikapi Komisi Pemberantasan Korupsi (KPK) dengan menetapkan Budi Gunawan sebagai tersangka kasus korupsi.
Meskipun ditetapkan sebagai tersangka oleh KPK, DPR menyetujui pencalonan Budi Gunawan sebagai Kapolri. Meskipun begitu, Presiden RI memutuskan untuk menunda pelantikan Kapolri baru terkait penetapan tersangka oleh KPK.
Presiden juga mengumumkan pemberhentian sementara Abraham Samad dan Bambang Widjojanto sebagai pimpinan KPK setelah ditetapkan tersangka oleh Polri. Menyikapi kekosongan pimpinan KPK, Presiden akan segera mengeluarkan Keputusan Presiden (Keppres) untuk pemberhentian sementara kedua pimpinan KPK tersebut.
"Menyusul Kepres, pemerintah juga akan menerbitkan Peraturan Pemerintah Pengganti UU atau Perpu untuk anggota sementara pimpinan KPK demi keberlangsungan kerja di lembaga KPK," kata Joko Widodo.
Presiden menambahkan, setelah itu diikuti dengan penerbitan tiga Keppres pengangkatan tiga orang anggota sementara pimpinan KPK yaitu Taufiqurrahman Ruki, Profesor Dr Indriyanto Senoadji, dan Johan Budi.
"Saya juga memerintahkan Polri dan KPK untuk menerapkan prinsip hukum dan menjaga etika serta membina hubungan harmonis antara kedua institusi," kata Presiden. (Ant)
Jakarta (B2B) - Indonesian President Joko Widodo has decided to propose Comm. Gen. Badrodin Haiti as the new National Police chief candidate to replace Comm. Gen Budi Gunawan whose nomination ran into controversies.
"To calm down the situation and to fulfill the need for a definitive Polri chief soon, we propose Comm. Gen. Badrodin Haiti to the House of Representatives (DPR) to be approved as the national police chief," President Jokowi said at the State Palace here on Wednesday.
On the occasion, the President appealed to Comm. Gen. Budi Gunawan to contribute his best to Polri and make the institution more professional so the people will trust it.
Budi Gunawan was previously nominated as the sole police chief candidate by the President, but was later named by the Indonesian Anti-graft Commission, known as theKPK in an alleged corruption case.
Although he was named suspect, the Indonesian parliament approved his nomination. However, the President decided to reconsider his installation citing KPK's action.
Meanwhile, two KPK leaders, Abraham Samad and Bambang Widjojanto, have been named suspects by the police. Considering the vacancy of another KPK leaders position, the President announced he will issue a Presidential Decision for the temporary discharge of the two KPK leaders.
"Following the Presidential Decision, a regulation in lieu of law (Perppu) will be issued for the temporary appointment of new KPK leaders to ensure the smooth functioning of the anti-graft body," he added.
In accordance with the Presidential Decision, Taufiqurahman Ruki, Indarto Senoaji, and Djohan Budi will be appointed as the temporary leaders of KPK.
"I also order National Police and KPK to abide by the principles of law and codes of ethics to maintain harmony in the two institutions," the President emphasized.
